Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said: "No party in the region will be able to sell its oil if Iran cannot sell its oil, and if Iran does not have security, no infrastructure in the region will be safe."
In response to statements by US President Trump, Ghalibaf said: "Let's see who blinks first," considering Trump's "rash stance" at the UN General Assembly and what he described as "insolence towards the Iranian people" showed that the United States had not changed its behavior.
He added that Americans should realize that the era of intimidation and threats to destroy Iran "is over," and that the Iranian people "will never back down" in the face of threatening language, provocative speeches, or air and trade blockades.
He warned that any aggression or "adventure" against Iran would be met with a "harsh, swift, and precise" response, noting that attempts to impose a naval blockade or close air corridors would be "defeated" through counter-economic and military measures.
In separate remarks, an Iranian Revolutionary Guard spokesman said the United States "has no choice but to declare failure and leave the region," describing Trump as a "big liar," and calling for the American people to be informed of what he called the "truth."
