A Reuters correspondent reported late Thursday to Friday hearing the sound of three powerful explosions in Sanaa accompanied by rising smoke, while the Houthi-affiliated Saba News Agency said that Saudi Arabia targeted Sanaa and other governorates, amid the renewed conflict in Yemen.
Saba said, "Saudi aggression targets the capital Sanaa and the governorates of Saada, Taiz, and Amran"
This is the first time the Houthis have accused Saudi Arabia of launching raids on Sanaa since they accused Riyadh of bombing Sanaa airport to prevent an Iranian plane from landing there in July.
A video obtained by Reuters showed a column of smoke rising in the sky over Sanaa.
Yemen has witnessed an escalation between the Houthis, supported by Iran, and the government forces supported by Saudi Arabia since July.
The Houthis accuse Riyadh of bombing areas under their control in Yemen, while they target Saudi areas with drones and missiles. They have also announced a naval blockade on Saudi ships in the Red Sea.
On September 11, the Houthis completed their control of the Bab al-Mandeb Strait following the withdrawal of government forces from several areas after a round of intense battles, and then tightened their control over the western coast of Yemen.
