“Hamoud”.. A symbol of our coexistence and national unity

Stronger than the bullets of the modern-day Kharijites

“Hamoud”.. A symbol of our coexistence and national unity

Political messages and implications sent by His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Jordanian people in response to the bullets of treachery and terrorism fired at worshippers in the church of Hamoud village.

The first of these strong political messages came from His Majesty King Abdullah II, who was the first to arrive at the Al-Karak Governmental and Military Hospital to check on the wounded and reassure the people of Hamoud village, the people of Al-Karak, and the Jordanian people that Jordan is resilient against terrorism, that our national unity is solid and stronger than their terrorism, that the criminals will receive their punishment, and that the security services are on the lookout for them. Therefore, the first image of the King following the operation was in military uniform, which carries a strong indication that Jordan will defeat the terrorists and their schemes.

Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah sent a clear message that the crime has pained the hearts of all Jordanians and that the tear of Hamoud village and its people is the tear of every Jordanian. Crown Prince Al Hussein also sent a strong message, the essence of which is that the cowardly bullets of terrorism will not undermine Al-Karak and its history full of honor and dignity, and that Jordanians will remain united in the face of anyone who attempts to tamper with the security and stability of the homeland.

The Jordanian people, in all their spectrums, segments, and parties, stood firmly against the bullets of treachery, expressing this through their cohesion and standing behind the King, demanding that the security services strike the terrorists with an iron fist. The Jordanian people expressed their support for all measures that will be taken by the Jordanian leadership, the government, and the security services to confront and eliminate terrorism and extremism, especially since our Jordanian people are not accustomed to such criminality; in fact, it is the first crime in the history of Jordan against a Jordanian church. Therefore, our people were “shocked,” but their cohesion and insistence on preserving national unity are what thwarted the conspiracy of terrorism. Here, we saw everyone standing together, united against terrorism: politicians, deputies, senators, partisans, Muslim and Christian clergy, popular movements, and citizens. The message was one: that the Jordanian people are united against terrorism and against their takfiri ideas and blind extremism.

Jordanians in their homes in all their governorates, cities, towns, villages, and camps, and even those present outside the country, expressed their sadness and shock at this criminality, and many of them headed to Al-Karak and Hamoud village to express their solidarity with the people of the village, the injured, and the wounded, and to console the families of the martyrs, for the affliction, pain, and wound are one.

The strong and unified stance of the leadership, the government, and the people, which appeared immediately after the crime, thwarted the conspiracy of the terrorists and those behind them. Jordan is strong with its Hashemite leadership, its army, its security services, the unity of our people, the cohesion of the internal front, and the strength of coexistence between Muslims and Christians.

The government, led by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, who spent the night before last in Al-Karak and Hamoud village, as well as the ministers who were also present in Al-Karak to follow up on the situation there, in addition to the leaders of the security services who were at the scene of the event with the aim of following up, consoling, and also working to arrest the criminals and bring them to justice.

It became clear on social media that the bullets of treachery fired at the worshippers in the church are bullets against every Jordanian, and that confronting and rejecting them is the most prominent headline for everyone, and that the demands of the Jordanian people were clear: to confront these treacherous bullets and for the criminals to receive their punishment for their condemned crime.

The Jordanian people showed real awareness in confronting this terrorism; the sadness was first for the martyrs, and the popular condemnation of these criminals and their actions was clear. In fact, many Jordanians expressed their opinion that the goal of this crime is to serve the enemies of Jordan, the occupying Zionists.

The main political message and implication that Jordan sent is that Jordan’s stability is strong and that terrorism and the bullets of treachery will not be able to shake it, as His Majesty the King constitutes its main guarantee, and it is protected by the Armed Forces and our security services. Jordanians should not fear for the security and stability of their homeland, which is protected by the King, the Crown Prince, the army, the security services, and the rule of law and the awareness of the people.

Muslims and Christians in Jordan are brothers and family, and the history of coexistence between them throughout the ages is a witness to the strength of the relationship and brotherhood between them. This crime by extremists will not affect their relationship and coexistence, for they are partners in this homeland. Therefore, Jordanians, “Muslims and Christians,” grieved for the martyrs of the Hamoud village church, and the people of Al-Karak headed to the village to console the families of the martyrs and to hospitals to donate blood, for the unity of blood and destiny is stronger than the bullets of the modern-day Kharijites.
