The Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, Dr. Ahmad Al-Hasanat, condemned the attack that targeted Al-Hamoud Church in Karak Governorate, affirming that it is a heinous crime that contradicts the provisions of Islamic Sharia, which prohibits the killing of a soul without right.
In a statement today, Friday, Al-Hasanat said that the blood of Christians is as sacred as the blood of Muslims, and it is not permissible to attack it under any circumstances, citing the Almighty’s saying: "Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely."
He added that targeting innocent people is an attack on the homeland and the unity of its people, and an attempt to sow discord and division among Jordanians, stressing that this criminal act will not undermine the cohesion of Jordanian society and the values of coexistence and brotherhood among its people.
He pointed out that the religious and national position requires condemning this attack and adhering to the values of cooperation and tolerance, recalling the Almighty’s saying: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression."
Al-Hasanat extended his sincerest condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, asking God Almighty to cover them with His vast mercy, to grant the wounded and injured a speedy recovery, and to protect Jordan and its people.
