German police have expanded their search for a predator suspected to be a puma in the Erding district of Bavaria, southern Germany, utilizing a team of police cavalry to reach rugged areas.
The search operations followed the sighting of an animal suspected to be a large cat last Tuesday evening, when a hunter managed to film it using a night-vision device, raising suspicions that it could be a "puma," also known as a mountain lion.
The police explained that using cavalry in the Notzinger Moos area and its surroundings allows access to parts of the nature reserve that are difficult to reach on foot or by vehicle, confirming that the animal's identity has not yet been determined.
Despite the use of police personnel, drones, helicopters, and police dogs, in addition to setting up new wildlife monitoring cameras, the search operations have not yet yielded tangible results, nor have any additional traces of the animal been found or new sightings recorded.
