For decades, Jordanian television has formed an important part of the social and cultural memory of Jordanians, having transformed from a mere screen in the house into a space for collective viewing, and a window through which the family looks out onto stories, events, and characters that resemble their daily lives.
Among the scenes that have remained stuck in popular memory is a family member climbing to the roof of the house to adjust the television "antenna," while the voices of family members rise from inside: "Is it on?.. Move it a little to the right.. Secure the antenna!," in an attempt to capture a clearer picture for the Jordanian screen.
