"Jordanian Narrative" exhibition documents the memory of the place through images

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, Dr. Nidal Al-Ahmad, representing the Minister of Culture, inaugurated the "Jordanian Narrative" exhibition organized by the Jordan Photographic Society, in the presence of a number of photographers, cultural enthusiasts, and members of the society.

The exhibition includes a collection of photographic works that evoke various aspects of the Jordanian narrative, from architecture, antiquities, heritage, and folklore to the details of daily life, place, and time, in an attempt to visually document the national memory through the lens of the Jordanian photographer.

Al-Ahmad and the attendees toured the exhibition halls and viewed the participating works, in which photographers presented their different visions of how the image serves as a means to preserve the details of the place and document the transformations that Jordan has witnessed over time.

The organization of the exhibition comes in the context of the interest in documenting the Jordanian narrative in its various forms and fields, and enhancing the presence of photography as one of the tools for preserving national and cultural memory.

The exhibition also included the works that won the top three places in the competition held as part of its activities, where photographer Raed Nasser Qatina won first place, photographer Mohammed Abdel Wahab came in second place, and photographer Sarah Ghandour won third place.

The President of the Jordan Photographic Society, Hamza Al-Zyoud, said that the society is continuing its efforts to document what distinguishes Jordan in terms of aesthetic, heritage, and human elements, and to establish photography as a means to preserve national and cultural memory.

Through the participating works, the exhibition offers a multifaceted visual reading of the Jordanian narrative, combining the details of the place, the memory of the people, and heritage, and gives the image a role in telling the story of Jordan and documenting it for future generations.
