Food and Drug Administration: We reassure citizens about the safety of the season and the Jordanian product under strict supervision

The Director-General of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Rana Obeidat, explained that the observation received from a citizen via a radio program regarding the suspicion of using empty imported olive oil tins and the possibility that they might be used to adulterate olive oil is still under investigation and scrutiny, and it has not been proven that the empty tin containers are linked to any olive press until this moment, according to the samples tested in the laboratories, and they may be from a source other than the presses.

Obeidat emphasized that the control and inspection cadres in the institution are carrying out continuous field surveys around the clock throughout the olive oil season to verify the quality of the oil and ensure its safety, and samples are drawn from all presses for laboratory analysis and necessary measures are taken

in the event that any violation is detected, including closing the press if the violation is proven.

Obeidat pointed out that the institution, within the annual free campaign "Test your oil before it enters your home", provides the service of preliminary and rapid testing for an olive oil sample for free to citizens in its various branches spread across the various governorates of the Kingdom, calling on citizens to benefit from this service, and Obeidat reassured citizens that the season is safe and under supervision and called for not circulating rumors.

The institution called for communication with it via the official complaints platform through the WhatsApp application at the number (0795632000), or via the hotline (117114) in the event of any observation, inquiry, or complaint.
