As part of the commitment of regulatory and official authorities to intensify oversight and protect markets and consumers, the relevant agencies in Irbid Governorate carried out raids today in the Bani Kinana District, which resulted in the seizure of large quantities of Tunisian olive oil packaged in 16-kilogram containers and tins, prepared for sale as local produce.
According to an informed source in Irbid, the seized quantities were packaged in containers and tins with capacities reaching 16 kilograms, while security and regulatory agencies are currently expanding investigations to uncover the circumstances of the case and identify all parties involved in the packaging and promotion operations, noting that these campaigns come within a strict plan to protect markets with the start of the olive season.
These raids and field follow-ups were conducted in coordination between the relevant official authorities, including the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), the Ministry of Agriculture, and the administrative governorate, following reports of attempts to package Tunisian olive oil in containers and offer it for sale as local olive oil.
The competent authorities continue to follow up on the case and verify the sources of the seized quantities and the mechanism of their packaging and marketing, in preparation for taking the necessary legal measures against the violators, as part of efforts aimed at protecting the consumer, maintaining the safety of products traded in the markets, and preventing fraud and deception in the sale of olive oil.
