First Wizz Air Flights Arrive in Jordan After Several Months of Suspension

The first flights of the Hungarian company "Wizz Air" arrived at Queen Alia International Airport, Tuesday, with a high load of passengers, after a suspension that lasted several months, as part of the resumption of European airlines' regular flights to Jordan.

The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, Captain Daif Allah Al-Farjat, said that the flight arrived on Tuesday, and the company will start operating two weekly flights to Jordan, noting that the high occupancy rate reflects the demand for travel to the Kingdom and supports tourism and commercial movement.

He added that "Ryanair" will resume its flights to Jordan starting from the end of October next, connecting it with four major European destinations.

Al-Farjat explained that the return of European carriers came after efforts and technical negotiations with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which resulted in lifting Jordan from the conflict zone information bulletin and canceling its previous recommendation to avoid Jordanian airspace, while only assessing the risks before operation.

The agency had canceled in August its previous recommendation for airlines to avoid Jordanian airspace, advising operators to exercise caution until September 30.

Al-Farjat confirmed the continuation of coordination with airlines and international partners to attract more airlines to the Kingdom's airports.
