The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, Captain Dhief Allah Al-Frajat, confirmed on Saturday that the Jordanian skies are safe, and that air traffic and incoming and outgoing flights through Jordanian airports are operating normally, in accordance with globally followed safety and security standards.
Al-Frajat explained, in response to the recent advisory bulletin issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), that the bulletin represents a guiding recommendation and not a ban decision, noting that the technical wording used the term "Should" instead of "Shall", which allows European airlines to assess the situation and make their operational decisions based on each company's internal risk assessment.
He added that the bulletin did not affect non-European airlines, noting that European companies, including "Wizz Air" and "TAROM", continue to operate their flights to and from Jordan regularly.
He pointed out that other European carriers have submitted official operating applications for next month to resume and operate their flights, including British Airways, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Eurowings Cargo, in addition to the Croatian company ETF to operate charter flights.
Al-Frajat pointed out that the number of airlines operating regular flights to Jordanian airports currently exceeds 32 regional and international companies.
He confirmed that the Authority monitors and evaluates the air and security situation around the clock, in coordination with local and international concerned parties, stressing that the safety of passengers and securing Jordanian skies are at the top of the Authority's priorities.
