The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said that the adequacy of the stock of oil derivatives in the Kingdom, which includes gasoline 90 and 95, diesel, kerosene, and jet fuel, is about 60 days.
The ministry added, in response to press inquiries, that the adequacy of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) capacities is about 38 days.
The ministry previously confirmed that the energy sector in Jordan operates according to well-studied plans that ensure the continuity of supply.
The government has worked to provide storage capacities to maintain a strategic stock of oil derivatives, with the aim of enhancing the security of supply of oil derivatives and ensuring the continuity of supply in emergency situations.
In August last year, Jordan began steps to re-evaluate its oil and oil derivatives storage capacities through a government tender aimed at developing a new strategy for expanding storage facilities and enhancing the Kingdom's readiness to deal with supply challenges, alongside studying investment and regional trade opportunities linked to this sector.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources launched a tender to provide specialized technical services to improve the storage capacities of oil and petroleum products in the Kingdom.
The project, according to the tender document, aims to evaluate the current storage capacities in Jordan, determine future needs, explore strategic and commercial opportunities, leading to the preparation of an integrated strategy for expanding oil and oil derivatives storage facilities in accordance with international best practices.
The project comes within a Jordanian approach to enhance the resilience of the energy system, so that the Kingdom's efforts are not limited to securing sources of supply, but extend to developing storage capabilities, risk management, and taking advantage of Jordan's geographical location as a regional logistics center in the energy sector.
