Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives emphasizes the importance of parliamentary cooperation with Uzbekistan

The head of the Jordanian parliamentary delegation, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Dr. Ahmad Al-Safadi, met with the Uzbek parliamentary delegation, headed by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbaeva, on the sidelines of the 153rd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. He emphasized the importance of the relations between Jordan and Uzbekistan and the necessity of strengthening communication and parliamentary cooperation between the two friendly countries.

According to a statement by the Council today, Wednesday, Al-Safadi expressed his happiness with this meeting and his appreciation for the relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of continuing direct communication between the parliamentarians of both countries, especially in light of the difficult and complex circumstances the region and the world are going through.

He said that the relations between Jordan and Uzbekistan are strong, and it is important that they develop at various political, economic, and knowledge levels, confirming that Jordan always welcomes its brothers from Uzbekistan to their second home, Jordan.

He pointed out that the responsibility of parliamentarians is no longer limited to internal issues or bilateral relations, but includes taking clear positions regarding crises and wars, especially when it comes to human rights, international law, and the right of peoples to self-determination.

He emphasized that one cannot talk about peace and stability in the region while ignoring what is happening in Palestine, noting that the massacres, destruction, killing of civilians by Israel, prevention of humanitarian aid, and continued aggression in Palestine represent a dangerous situation, warning of the danger of displacement becoming a reality imposed on the Palestinian people.

He affirmed that Jordan's position on the Palestinian cause is clear and firm, and that His Majesty King Abdullah II was at the forefront of leaders who constantly warned of the danger of displacement and the liquidation of the Palestinian cause or its transfer to other countries.

He said that Jordan does not deal with the Palestinian cause as just a political file, but as a cause of a people, rights, history, and the future of an entire region.

He pointed out that His Majesty King Abdullah II has moved politically and diplomatically at various levels, emphasizing the necessity of stopping the war, protecting civilians, delivering aid, and rejecting any attempt to displace Palestinians from their land.

He stressed that the international community cannot ask the region for stability and peace while simultaneously allowing these violations to continue, emphasizing the need for a stronger international parliamentary voice.

He indicated that parliaments can exert political pressure, explain the truth of what is happening to their peoples, defend the application of international law and United Nations resolutions, and reject double standards.

He affirmed that Jordan does not want a new war or more bloodshed in the region, but rather wants justice and a real peace based on rights rather than the imposition of a fait accompli, and respect for the right of the Palestinian people to their land, homeland, and the establishment of their independent state.

He pointed to the importance of continuing dialogue and coordination between Jordan and Uzbekistan, stressing that the next phase requires greater cooperation and responsible positions from parliaments so that international resolutions do not remain mere texts, but turn into real steps that protect people and support peace and stability.

For her part, Narbaeva and the members of the Uzbek parliamentary delegation participating in the 153rd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union praised the high parliamentary performance achieved by the Jordanian parliamentary delegation during the assembly's proceedings.

They valued the recent visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to the Republic of Uzbekistan and the important results it yielded in terms of strengthening bilateral relations.

They confirmed that His Majesty's visit constituted a pivotal point in the path of relations between the two friendly countries and opened broad horizons for cooperation in political, economic, investment, tourism, and cultural fields, praising the pivotal role played by His Majesty in enhancing security and stability in the region and the world.
