Democratic members of the House Oversight Committee have launched an investigation into Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law, regarding his investments in the Middle East, following allegations that his company is investing in Israeli firms that supply equipment to the military.
According to CNN, on Tuesday evening, Democratic House Oversight Committee member Robert Garcia sent a letter to Kushner's investment firm, "Affinity Partners," requesting detailed information about the company's business activities in the Middle East.
Garcia stated in the letter that the Democratic members of the House Oversight Committee have initiated an investigation into Kushner's company investments.
He also noted that they are examining whether Trump and his family members have made financial gains from their access to power.
Kushner's lawyer denied the allegations related to the company, asserting that his client has no role in the investment decisions made by the company.
Earlier, CNN reported that "Phoenix Financial," in which Kushner's company "Affinity Partners" holds a majority stake, has invested at least $456 million in 9 companies that supply equipment to the Israeli military.
