The Ministry of Social Development and the Public Security Directorate stated in a joint statement that one of the joint anti-begging campaigns in the capital the day before yesterday apprehended a number of beggars near a traffic light. While they were being escorted, one of the detainees—a man in his fifties of Arab nationality—lost consciousness and was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, where he arrived dead.
The statement confirmed that his body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine to determine the cause of death. After the autopsy, the cause of death was attributed to sudden cardiac arrest.
