Citing Jewish Holidays, Occupation Forces Close Al-Ibrahimi Shrine

Israeli occupation forces closed the Al-Ibrahimi Shrine to citizens today, Wednesday, until the evening of Thursday, citing the need to secure settlers' celebrations of Jewish holidays. They also disrupted the educational process at Al-Fayhaa Basic School for Girls and completely halted it at Al-Ibrahimiya Basic School for Boys.

Hebron Endowments Director Amjad Karja condemned the closure of the Al-Ibrahimi Shrine under the pretext of securing settlers' celebrations of Jewish holidays, considering it a blatant violation of its sanctity and an attack on Muslims' right to access their places of worship.

Our correspondent reported that the occupation forces tightened their military measures around the Al-Ibrahimi Shrine, closing military checkpoints and electronic gates leading to it, which hindered the arrival of students and teaching staff to Al-Ibrahimiya Basic School for Boys and Al-Fayhaa Basic School for Girls, and caused the complete suspension of the educational process at Al-Ibrahimiya and its disruption at Al-Fayhaa.

He added that the occupation forces increased their military presence at the entrances leading to the Al-Ibrahimi Shrine to secure the arrival of settlers to Hebron city and archaeological sites, and closed several gates leading to the old city markets.

He pointed out that this coincided with the tightening of military measures at the checkpoints set up by the occupation forces at the entrances to the neighborhoods of Jaber, Al-Sulaima, Ghaith, and Wadi Al-Husein, adjacent to the "Kiryat Arba" settlement established on citizens' lands east of Hebron city.

The occupation exploits Jewish holidays to close roads and impose strict restrictions on the movement of Palestinians in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, exacerbating their daily suffering and deepening the restrictions on freedom of worship and movement, while settlers are granted facilities.
