Ben-Gvir calls for "dismantling" the Palestinian Authority following shooting in the West Bank

The extremist Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, called on Friday for the dismantling of the Palestinian Authority following a shooting operation in the West Bank that resulted in the injury of 5 settlers, days before the elections.

The far-right minister said in a statement, "We should not wait for another October 7th (in the West Bank). That is where the next war will break out," adding, "We must act before it is too late. The Palestinian Authority must be dismantled and disarmed, and its terrorist infrastructure must be completely eliminated."

Ben-Gvir also opined that the freedom of movement for residents of the Palestinian territories is less important than the "right of Jews to life," calling for "stopping their movement on the axes" and not allowing them to travel on West Bank roads.

He said that the lives of settlers in the West Bank are "a million times more important than freedom of movement."

Five settlers were injured on Friday in a shooting operation near the city of Hebron, amid reports of the martyrdom of the operation's perpetrators.

The newspaper quoted a witness as saying that the shooting continued for more than 20 minutes, which prevented the evacuation of the wounded.

For its part, the Israeli occupation army announced that the perpetrators of the operation were martyred after a short pursuit while "attempting to flee," and it also imposed a security cordon on the neighboring villages.
