"Antarctica.. Continent of Peace".. Chilean photos reveal the secrets of life at the ends of the Earth

The photography exhibition "Antarctica.. Continent of Peace," organized by the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Chile in Amman, takes its visitors on a visual journey to one of the world's most isolated and unique regions, where vast glaciers, snow-covered mountains, and frozen oceans coexist, and living organisms adapt to harsh climatic conditions.

The exhibition opens at 6:00 PM next Monday, November 2nd, at the "Wassal" Gallery in the museum's building No. 2, and continues until the 23rd of the same month, with the participation of a group of Chilean photographers who document through their works the natural landscape and wildlife in the Chilean region of the Antarctic continent.

The exhibition allows visitors to contemplate the exceptional nature of this region located at the extreme south of the Earth, with its vast icy expanses, mountain formations, and changing seascapes, in an extremely cold environment that imposes special patterns of adaptation and survival on living organisms.

The photos reveal aspects of the daily life of animals living in this environment, from penguin colonies on rocky coasts, to elephant seals resting on the shores of King George Island, to scenes of ocean giants in the frozen southern waters.

The exhibited works go beyond documenting natural landscapes to provide a visual testimony to biodiversity and the ability of organisms to adapt to harsh climatic conditions, allowing the viewer to get closer to a world they rarely have the opportunity to see up close.

The exhibition also highlights the importance of maintaining the ecological balance in Antarctica as part of the global ecosystem, and reminds us of the shared responsibility that protecting these regions imposes toward nature, its resources, and its biodiversity.

The exhibition comes within the framework of cultural cooperation between the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts and the Chilean Embassy in Amman, and gives photography a space for cross-cultural communication by combining the aesthetic value of the image with its importance in documenting the environment and highlighting issues related to its protection.
