Amman Municipality Issues 196 Home Profession Licenses Since Beginning of 2026

The number of home profession licenses issued by the Greater Amman Municipality since the beginning of 2026 until September reached 196 licenses, while the number of effective licenses related to food manufacturing reached 229 licenses, according to the Director of the Professions and Advertisements Licenses Department at the Municipality, Tariq Al-Qahwi.

Al-Qahwi added that the Municipality issued 42 new licenses for food manufacturing professions since the beginning of the year, while intellectual professions are the most advanced in obtaining home profession licenses.

The home profession licensing instructions aim to allow the largest number of individuals to start their businesses with lower costs and simplified procedures.

Licensed home professions fall under four main categories: intellectual professions, handicrafts, food manufacturing, and home services, and include various activities that can be practiced from within the home according to the approved regulatory and technical conditions.

For home professions related to food product manufacturing, the Municipality requires obtaining approval from the General Establishment of Food and Drug and completing the necessary approvals from relevant authorities, in addition to adhering to general safety conditions and health and environmental requirements.

The instructions allow the licensing of a number of intellectual and handicraft professions, food manufacturing, and home services, while adhering to the permitted space for use within the home and avoiding causing inconvenience to neighbors and maintaining the residential character of the site.

The General Establishment of Food and Drug launched an awareness campaign on the procedures and requirements for licensing home food professions and food safety and quality standards, including a series of awareness activities in various governorates of the Kingdom, aiming to simplify procedures and identify the challenges facing the owners of these professions.

The Establishment said that the campaign comes within the framework of its role in awareness and guidance, which is not limited to the regulatory aspect, but also includes enhancing awareness and commitment to food safety requirements, which contributes to supporting home food activities, enhancing the safety of their products, and improving their quality, thereby enhancing consumer confidence and supporting the development of these projects.
