Al-Qatamin Forms Two Inspection Committees to Monitor the Escape of Domestic Workers

The Minister of Transport and Minister of Labor, Nidal Al-Qatamin, decided on Monday to form two inspection committees from the ministry's cadres in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate; to monitor cases of domestic workers escaping.

Al-Qatamin directed the committees to intensify monitoring through continuous inspection rounds, morning and evening, to control illegal domestic workers.

The minister confirmed that the goal of this step is to reduce cases of domestic workers escaping, in order to preserve the rights of citizens and protect workers from exploitation in the labor market.

Earlier, the ministry's spokesperson had mentioned that more than 1,000 domestic workers had been reported to have escaped since the beginning of the year, while the ministry had managed to control about 300 workers.

The fine imposed on those found with an illegal non-Jordanian worker is at least 800 dinars per worker, and the fine amount doubles with an increase in the number of illegal workers.
