Minister of Transport and Minister of Labor, Dr. Nidal Al-Qatamin, directed the Employment and Inspection Directorates and the National Employment Program team to compel private sector establishments to implement the provisions of the Labor Law related to the employment of persons with disabilities, the provision of occupational safety and health personnel, and the establishment of nurseries for employees' children and the provision of their staff.
These directives come within the framework of the Ministry's efforts to increase the employment rates of Jordanians in the private sector, to employ persons with disabilities, and to provide specialized personnel in occupational safety and health, and nursery staff, in compliance with the Labor Law, the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and legislation governing occupational safety and health.
In this context, the Ministry circulated the decision to the Employment and Inspection Directorates, their field departments, and the National Employment Program to ensure monitoring of private sector establishments' compliance with the legal percentages set for employing persons with disabilities, adherence to occupational safety and health standards, and the provision of necessary personnel, in addition to following up on the establishments' commitment to providing nurseries for employees' children.
The Ministry's media spokesperson, Mohammad Al-Zyoud, explained that employment teams have begun field visits to the obligated establishments with the aim of raising employers' awareness of legal requirements and identifying available job opportunities.
Al-Zyoud indicated that this awareness campaign will continue for 30 days, during which employers will be guided to utilize the database available through the national employment platform "Sajjil" (https://sajjil.gov.jo), and to recruit degree holders in stagnant specializations to work as nursery staff or in the field of occupational safety and health.
The Ministry called on persons with disabilities, occupational safety and health specialists, and those with specializations related to nursery requirements to update their data or take the initiative to register on the "Sajjil" platform to enable the Ministry to evaluate their qualifications, provide them with suitable job opportunities, or enroll those in need in training and rehabilitation programs in coordination with the Vocational Training Corporation.
Al-Zyoud pointed out that the Ministry will provide support to establishments that comply with the provisions of the Labor Law and meet the support conditions through the National Employment Program.
Al-Zyoud concluded by confirming that the Ministry will begin, immediately after the end of the 30-day awareness period, extensive inspection campaigns, where legal measures will be taken against establishments that do not comply with the provisions of the Labor Law.
