Irbid Unions: The "Hamoud" wound is the wound of us all, and Jordan is resilient against strife

The Professional Associations Complex in Irbid Governorate held a massive solidarity stand to condemn the heinous terrorist crime that targeted a house of worship (a church) in the town of Hamoud in Karak Governorate, which resulted in the martyrdom of nine heroic martyrs, affirming their unity behind the Hashemite leadership, the Armed Forces, and the security services.

During the stand, participants raised banners condemning terrorism and emphasizing national unity and standing as one rank behind the Hashemite leadership and the security services.

In the speech of the professional associations delivered by Dr. Omar Al-Naqrash (Head of the Dental Association branch in Irbid, on his own behalf, on behalf of his colleagues, and on behalf of the committee supervising the Professional Associations Complex), he stressed that the wound and the affliction are one for all the people of the nation, saying: "This wound is our wound, and this affliction is our affliction. The entire Kingdom of Jordan was shaken by the impact of the heinous crime that targeted our children in their church while they were safe."

Dr. Al-Naqrash added that the attack on any component of Jordanian society is a blatant attack on the entire nation and on its national and humanitarian values and constants, confirming, on behalf of both Muslims and Christians, the categorical rejection of violence, extremism, and terrorism, and stressing that attempts to undermine the cohesion of Jordanians will always break against the rock of their unity and the authenticity of their heritage. He also extended his deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the righteous martyrs, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

National cohesion and a firm stance

For his part, Engineer Mahmoud Rababa (Head of the Engineers Association branch in Irbid and member of the Governorate Council) affirmed that the Engineers Association stands as a protective shield behind His Majesty the King and the security services in the fields of construction and protection. He pointed out that the Jordanian people represent one family that has coexisted peacefully throughout history, stressing that malicious and outlawed rhetoric will not undermine the social fabric based on brotherhood and tolerance.

In turn, lawyer Mohammad Bani Hamad (Secretary of the Subcommittee of the Bar Association in Irbid) explained that the cowardly terrorist act did not target a specific group, but rather targeted the Jordanian citizen as a whole, affirming the absolute rejection of these acts and standing fully in the trench of the nation behind the Hashemite leadership.

Launching a national project and activating the awareness role

Engineer Bashar Al-Nawafleh (Head of the Agricultural Engineers Association branch in Irbid) announced that the associations are adopting a comprehensive national project to confront hate speech, which will be circulated to all governorates of the Kingdom. He emphasized that the role of the associations goes beyond professional demands to include awareness-based protection, as they are the first line of defense for societal awareness.

Dr. Laith Al-Muqabla (Head of the Cultural Committee at the Complex) affirmed the categorical rejection of any discourse that calls for sedition, stressing that cultural and national awareness requires promoting the values of tolerance and responsible citizenship and protecting Jordan's internal house.

Dr. Haneen Obeidat (Head of the National Action Committee at the Complex) indicated that Jordan will remain resilient against challenges thanks to the wisdom of its leadership and the cohesion of its people, noting that the firmness of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein in holding criminals accountable and the popular rallying around the army and security services constitute the strongest shield for the nation.
