Al-Qadi: Criminal terrorism will not undermine our cohesion and unity

Speaker of the House of Representatives Mazen Al-Qadi affirmed that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, will remain a model of national unity, love, and brotherhood among its people, stressing that Jordanians stand as one in the face of terrorism, and that these cowardly terrorist acts will not undermine the cohesion and unity of Jordanian society.

Al-Qadi added, during a visit to check on the health conditions of the injured who are lying in hospital beds following the terrorist attack on Hamoud Church in Karak Governorate, wishing them a speedy recovery, that this cowardly terrorist act has no connection to Jordanians, pointing out that the Jordanian people are not sectarian and take pride in their Jordanian identity, Arabism, and Islam, and stand united with their leadership to combat terrorism and fight anyone who dares to undermine the security and stability of the homeland.

He emphasized that His Majesty the King is our safety valve and the leader of our national cohesion, and that His Majesty's stance yesterday boosted the morale of Jordanians with firmness and strict directives to all concerned parties to apprehend the criminals so they receive their deterrent punishment. Al-Qadi expressed confidence in our security services and our Arab Army in reaching the terrorists.

Al-Qadi explained that the House will demand the enactment of modern legislation to introduce amendments to the Anti-Terrorism Law to toughen penalties, reaching up to the death penalty.

Al-Qadi was accompanied during the visit by the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Dr. Khamis Atieh, Assistant Speaker of the House MP Ibrahim Al-Saraira, Chairman of the Parliamentary Health Committee MP Ahmed Al-Sarahneh, and MPs Shaher Shatnawi, Hakam Al-Maadat, Raed Rabah Al-Dharawi, and Mohammed Salama Al-Ghuwairi.
