Al-Hajjaj monitors student parliament elections in a number of Aqaba schools

The Director of Education for Aqaba Governorate, Dr. Abdul Wahab Al-Hajjaj, monitored on Thursday the progress of the student parliament elections in a number of the governorate's schools, coinciding with their conduct across the Kingdom's schools, amidst a democratic atmosphere that reflected the students' awareness and active participation in school life.

In a special statement to "Al-Rai", Al-Hajjaj affirmed that the student parliament elections represent a practical educational experience to entrench the democratic approach among students, introduce them to the importance of participating in decision-making, and expressing their opinions freely and responsibly, pointing out that this experience contributes to building the student's personality, enhancing self-confidence, and fostering the ability to engage in dialogue and accept the opinion of others.

He added that the student parliament forms an effective space for developing leadership skills, teamwork, and assuming responsibility, and empowering students to participate positively in school life through proposing initiatives and ideas that contribute to developing the educational environment and enhancing the spirit of belonging to the school and society.

Al-Hajjaj pointed out that participation in the elections gives students a practical opportunity to exercise the right of choice according to democratic foundations, learn to respect the will of others, and accept results, thereby enhancing the values of active citizenship and qualifying a conscious generation capable of participating in building its society and assuming its future responsibilities.

He explained that the Ministry of Education attaches importance to enhancing the role of the student parliament in school life, considering it one of the educational tools that contribute to preparing students for public life, entrenching the culture of dialogue, cooperation, and respect for diversity in opinions, alongside encouraging them to take initiative and participate in addressing issues of concern to them within their schools.

Al-Hajjaj appreciated the efforts of school administrations and teaching staff in organizing the elections and providing the appropriate atmosphere for their success, affirming the importance of continuing to support student initiatives that enhance participation and responsibility, and wishing the winning students success in representing their colleagues and working to convey their opinions and aspirations with honesty and dedication.
