Russia's TASS news agency quoted a source as saying that US Envoy Steve Witkoff is scheduled to visit Russia on Wednesday.
Witkoff will head to Russia after concluding a meeting in Oslo with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
Zelenskyy met with Witkoff today in an attempt to repair relations that have reached an all-time low, in light of US President Donald Trump's rapprochement with Moscow and Kyiv's complaints that Washington is withholding vital defensive weapons.
The leaders of Norway and Finland hosted them in Oslo. Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, attended remotely.
Zelenskyy held talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb before his meeting with the US delegation.
Zelenskyy said that Kyiv is grateful to the United States for resuming the provision of intelligence and early warnings of Russian ballistic missile attacks.
He stated at a press conference in Oslo that Ukraine will not lose the war against Russia, but it is losing its people, and that it is committed to finding ways to achieve peace.
He reaffirmed that Ukraine hopes to discuss key issues regarding how to end the war during a trilateral meeting between the leaders.
Western European countries treat the defense of Ukraine in the face of the war as an existential issue, and have strongly supported Zelenskyy in an effort to avoid a deeper rift between Washington and Kyiv.
Washington denies intentionally obstructing Ukraine's war efforts. However, Trump has repeatedly criticized Zelenskyy and called for his replacement.
He had lifted sanctions imposed on Russia in what he describes as an effort to lower fuel prices in the United States.
