Minister of Investment Mutannabbi Abu Ghazaleh said on Thursday that the government's investment priorities are focused outside the capital, Amman, with the aim of enhancing local development and directing investments to the governorates, stressing that investment must reflect on local development to achieve its economic and developmental goals.
During a meeting with representatives of local and international media, attended by the Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Al-Momani, to discuss the Jordan-Europe Investment Conference scheduled for November 19, Abu Ghazaleh added that the ministry's plans are linked to development in the governorates, taking into account the geographical and sectoral distribution of investment opportunities in the northern, central, and southern regions.
He pointed out that the government pays attention to investments and incentives related to the governorates, which contributes to expanding the scope of economic activity outside the capital and linking investment opportunities to local development needs.
In response to a question from "Al-Mamlaka" regarding the biggest obstacles disclosed by European investors, whether related to economic feasibility, financing, guarantees, or procedures, Abu Ghazaleh explained that communication with investors revealed that the most prominent challenge was not the number of their demands, but rather their limited knowledge of the investment opportunities available in Jordan.
He indicated that the ministry has identified a gap in the access of information regarding investment opportunities to investors, considering that identifying this problem has allowed for work to address it and improve communication mechanisms and the presentation of opportunities.
He explained that the ministry is working to develop the way investment opportunities are presented and displayed, moving from a traditional presentation to providing more comprehensive and detailed information, which helps investors identify available opportunities and investment advantages in the Kingdom.
He pointed to the importance of direct communication with investors and providing information through electronic channels, which contributes to facilitating their access to investment opportunities and learning about their details.
Abu Ghazaleh emphasized the importance of leveraging economic relations and international agreements that Jordan is a party to in enhancing the attractiveness of the investment environment, noting the need to inform investors of these advantages more clearly.
Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Al-Momani said on Thursday that holding a Jordan-Europe Investment Conference carries an important message regarding Jordan's status and confirms the interest of the government and the Jordanian decision-maker in the investment file, due to its direct impact on developing the economy, attracting investments, and enhancing positive economic indicators.
He pointed out that economic indicators are moving in a positive and upward direction, confirming that these results are backed by intensive efforts made by the relevant ministries and institutions.
Al-Momani affirmed the government's keenness to keep the media informed of the details related to the conference, its goals, and its dimensions, and not to be content with providing them with news and information, allowing them to grasp the general context and importance of the event.
The meeting comes within the framework of preparations for the Jordan-Europe Investment Conference, which aims to strengthen economic and investment partnerships between Jordan and the European Union and transform strategic relations into investment opportunities in priority economic sectors.
During the meeting, Abu Ghazaleh announced the registration of 338 international participants from 198 international companies to date, at a time when Jordan possesses investment opportunities ready for launch or scheduled to be launched during the next year with a total value of about $15 billion.
