Abu Ghazaleh: The Jordan-Europe Investment Conference presents investment opportunities worth $15 billion

Minister of Investment Tareq Abu Ghazaleh said on Thursday that Jordan has investment opportunities ready to be presented with a total value of approximately $15 billion, as part of the preparations for the Jordan-Europe Investment Conference, scheduled to be held in the Dead Sea area on November 19.

During a meeting with representatives of local and international media, in the presence of the Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Al-Momani, Abu Ghazaleh added that the number of international registrations for the conference has reached 338 from 198 international companies to date, while the conference aims for the participation of about 700 people from Jordan and abroad.

He explained that the conference, which is held under Royal patronage, aims to translate the strategic partnership between Jordan and the European Union into investment opportunities and economic partnerships, and to leverage political relations and international agreements to attract investments, transfer knowledge and technology, and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy.

He pointed out that the partnership with the European Union includes a support package for Jordan worth approximately 3 billion euros, which includes tools to encourage European investors to enter the Jordanian market and establish partnerships with local companies.

Abu Ghazaleh emphasized that the government seeks to employ economic diplomacy to promote Jordan's economic interests by leveraging its international relations to attract investments and develop productive sectors, in line with the objectives of the Economic Modernization Vision.

- Strategic Investment Sectors

He indicated that the conference will focus on a set of strategically prioritized sectors, including transport and logistics, energy, the digital economy and technology, industry, and water security, in addition to strengthening Jordan's role as a regional economic and investment gateway.

He affirmed that Jordan is open to investments in various economic sectors, including emerging sectors, with a focus on areas that hold strategic importance and opportunities for growth and expansion.

In the transport and logistics sector, Abu Ghazaleh noted that the disruptions in shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz have highlighted the importance of supply chain continuity, stressing that the risks of supply interruptions are not limited to high transport costs, but extend to the cessation of economic and productive activities.

He drew attention to the importance of Jordan's geographical location in supporting trade movement and logistical connectivity between regional and global markets, and leveraging available opportunities to enhance its role in supply chains.

In the energy sector, he pointed to the progress Jordan has made in renewable energy and the importance of leveraging these capabilities to attract investments, especially with the increasing global demand for energy linked to technological developments and artificial intelligence.

He also emphasized the importance of the digital economy and technology, and leveraging the capabilities of Jordanian youth and their expertise in developing technological industries and enhancing Jordan's presence in global markets.

- Specialized Sessions and International Partnerships

Abu Ghazaleh explained that the conference program includes events and dialogue sessions with the participation of international economic figures, in addition to showcasing global experiences and success stories, and discussing public-private partnership opportunities.

He noted that closed dialogue sessions for the private sector have been allocated for November 18, preceding the official day of the conference, with the aim of allowing investors and companies to discuss investment opportunities and establish direct partnerships in the targeted sectors.

He indicated that participants will include financial institutions and high-net-worth investors, in addition to representatives from companies and economic sectors, which enhances networking opportunities between international investors and Jordanian companies.

The topics proposed for discussion include investment opportunities in technology and artificial intelligence, modern transport, energy, industry, and water, in addition to discussing opportunities for regional economic integration.

- Jordan as a Regional Economic Gateway

Abu Ghazaleh emphasized the importance of enhancing economic integration between Arab countries and leveraging available resources and capabilities to develop trade and investment ties, noting that the conference will discuss Jordan's economic role in the region, including opportunities related to Syria and reconstruction.

He stressed the importance of strengthening the interdependence between Arab economies and developing supply chains and trade connectivity, which contributes to expanding markets and creating new opportunities for the private sector.

In a related context, Abu Ghazaleh affirmed that Jordan is proceeding with the implementation of the Economic Modernization Vision, noting that achieving economic results requires time and continuous efforts to attract investments and develop productive sectors.

He added that positive economic indicators reflect continuous government efforts, stressing the importance of turning investments and projects into tangible results that reflect on the national economy and employment opportunities.
