A British study revealed that isometric exercises, such as wall sits with bent knees and holding a static position, may contribute to lowering blood pressure without the need for running or walking.
The results of the study, which included about 100 adults, showed that performing this exercise 3 times a week for 4 weeks was associated with a decrease in systolic blood pressure by about 9.5 points compared to those who did not exercise.
The study also recorded a decrease of about 6.6 points among those who performed the exercise once a week, indicating that dedicating a short time to physical activity may achieve tangible health benefits.
The researchers explained that these exercises, known as "isometric exercises," may help improve blood vessel function and facilitate blood flow, emphasizing the need for further studies to confirm the results.
Despite these promising results, these exercises remain an auxiliary method and not a substitute for prescribed treatment or medical follow-up for patients with high blood pressure.
