A Pride of Achievements... Amman Ahliya University First Locally and Ranked 376-400 Globally by Times Higher Education 2027

In an achievement that is inscribed in golden letters in the annals of Jordanian higher education, Amman Ahliya University has topped Jordanian universities alone in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking for 2027, one of the most prestigious and impactful international rankings, ranking 376-400 globally out of 2297 universities from different continents.

With this achievement, Amman Ahliya University, which was launched in 1990 as the first private university in Jordan, stands at the forefront of all Jordanian universities, both public and private, in a scene that summarizes decades of solid academic building and a vision that believed that excellence is not granted, but is made.

Moreover, the global presence of the university did not stop there, as it ranked 22nd globally in the international orientation criterion, placing it among the top 1% of universities in the world in this criterion, in an international testimony to the bridges of partnership it has established with universities and research centers around the world, and to its academic environment that brings together students and professors from multiple cultures and nationalities under one roof.

• The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, stated: "Leading Amman Ahliya University among Jordanian universities is not the ceiling of our ambition, but its first threshold towards broader horizons.

He added: We have bet since the beginning on the human and knowledge, and today the global recognition confirms that the bet was in place, and that Jordan is capable of presenting the world with a university model to be emulated. Our ambition is not to be present on the maps of global excellence, but to be a university that students and researchers from all over the world seek, and a beacon from which knowledge is issued that the world cites and builds upon.

He affirmed: We will continue our sustainable journey believing that only honest work remains, in accordance with the saying of God: (فَأَمَّا الزَّبَدُ فَيَذْهَبُ جُفَاءً ۖ وَأَمَّا مَا يَنفَعُ النَّاسَ فَيَمْكُثُ فِي الْأَرْضِ)".

• As for the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Omar Al-Hourani, he said: We believed in the Board of Directors that investing in scientific research and infrastructure is the most enduring investment, so we allocated resources to it without hesitation; and what we see today in the Times ranking is the return of this investment, and we will continue with the same determination; because the university that builds for knowledge is building for the future of the nation and its coming generations.

• For his part, the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hamdan, said: This achievement bears the signature of every member of the Amman Ahliya University family, from a professor in his classroom and a researcher in his laboratory, to an employee in his office and a student carrying the name of his university wherever he goes; therefore, we dedicate it to the homeland and its leadership, and we pledge to preserve this status with more work, research, and openness to the world. And above all, it is a message to our students and graduates that the certificate they carry is issued by a university that stands today among the elite universities of the world, and that its name will open doors for them wherever they go.

• In turn, the Dean of Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abu Arabi, stated: Behind this achievement are researchers who believed that scientific research is a mission before it is a number, and their output was published in the most prestigious international journals, and their research partnerships extending across continents were the two wings that flew the university to this status; and we will continue to direct research towards what serves the community and adds real value to human knowledge, as the ranking is a testimony to what we have achieved, and knowledge is a promise of what we will achieve.

• Dr. Ahmed Mansour, Director of the Sustainability and International Ranking Center, summarized the achievement by saying: The university is writing today an unprecedented page in the annals of Jordanian higher education; it is the first Jordanian university to enter the club of the best 400 universities in the world in the history of the Times ranking, and it is the result of a continuous and studied ascent: from the category 601-800 in 2024, reaching 376-400 today, placing the university among the top 18% of 2297 universities around the world, in a position that no Jordanian university has ever reached before in terms of the breadth of competition.
