A specialized military medical team carried out a series of advanced upper limb surgeries at Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II Military Hospital in Aqaba, as part of a 3-day surgical campaign.
The team was led by Brigadier General Dr. Ayman Mustafa, Head of the Orthopedic and Joint Surgery Department at the Royal Medical Services, with the participation of Colonel Dr. Yousef Khair, Head of Upper Limb Surgery and Orthopedic Consultant, and Colonel Dr. Saeb Al-Mistarihi.
Mustafa indicated that periodic and regular surgical campaigns and workshops will be organized at Prince Hashem Hospital, with the aim of providing specialized services in the southern region and reducing the need to transfer patients to Al-Hussein Medical City and Queen Alia Military Hospital.
Colonel Dr. Yousef Khair explained that the campaign included 24 diverse surgical procedures, including shoulder arthroscopy and delicate hand surgeries, noting that all operations were successful and that patients are being monitored and are recovering.
On the sidelines of the campaign, Major Dr. Mohammad Khair Al-Olimat, Senior Specialist in Upper Limb Surgery, delivered an educational lecture to the hospital staff covering the most prominent shoulder injuries, mechanisms for dealing with them, and methods of prevention and treatment.
For his part, Brigadier General Dr. Iyad Al-Safadi, Director of Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II Military Hospital, confirmed that this campaign came under the direct guidance of the Director General of the Royal Medical Services, and in coordination with the Assistant for Medical Affairs and Regions and the Head of the Orthopedic and Joint Surgery Department, with the aim of facilitating access for patients in the southern governorates and reducing waiting lists for specialized surgeries.
