The US State Department said on Friday that the security agreement on Greenland reached by the United States and Denmark ensures that China and Russia cannot establish bases on the polar island.
An anonymous official in the State Department stated that "the agreement explicitly guarantees the United States full authority to take whatever it deems necessary in Greenland to secure and defend the American continent, including permanent access rights, military base establishment, and air flight".
