The Jordan Marathon Association "Run Jordan" has announced the traffic closure plan that will accompany the Amman Marathon 2026 this coming Friday, in coordination with the relevant authorities, to ensure the safety of participants and organize traffic flow as runners pass along the race routes.
The closures include a number of streets and main axes in the capital, within the routes of the 42.195 km marathon (individual and relay), the 21 km half-marathon, and the 10 km race, according to the times specified for each route.
Closures for the 42 km and 21 km races include the road extending from the new Raghadan Terminal, passing through Al-Jaish Street in both directions, Al-Hashemi Square, Quraish Street, and Ali bin Abi Talib Street, reaching the Al-Muhajireen traffic lights, and passing through Omar Matar Street, King Talal Street, and Al-Hashemi Street, starting from 12 midnight until 12 noon.
These closures are part of the shared route for the full 42.195 km marathon, in both individual and relay categories, and the 21 km half-marathon, as these races will start at 6:00 AM.
As for the 10 km race route closures: Queen Alia Street will be completely closed between the Sports City Circle and the Interior Ministry Circle, in addition to Queen Noor Street between the Interior Ministry Circle and the Fourth Circle.
They also include Aqaba bin Nafi Street and Princess Basma Street completely, reaching the Al-Hashemi Square area, from 6:00 AM until 12 noon, coinciding with the 10 km race route which starts at 9:00 AM.
The association called on citizens and road users to take these closures into account when planning their movements on the morning of the marathon, to choose appropriate alternative routes, and to adhere to the instructions of traffic police and competent authorities at locations that will experience traffic diversions.
The plan comes as part of the field arrangements for organizing the Amman Marathon 2026, which will be held under the slogan "Run in the Heart of Amman," with the participation of runners in various race categories.
