The meeting focused on monitoring the readiness of institutions and their preparations to welcome the winter season and the necessary preparations to face weather conditions and emergency circumstances during this season.
During the meeting, the most prominent preparations and plans that were made for these purposes were reviewed, along with an evaluation of their effectiveness in responding to weather forecasts and circumstances that may affect the movement of citizens and services.
The Council also discussed the procedural frameworks linked to the legal requirements stipulated in the Public Security Law No. 38 of 1965 and its amendments, ensuring coordination between various entities during emergencies.
During the meeting, the details of the comprehensive plan prepared in coordination with relevant state institutions were reviewed, and this plan, which included coordination, readiness, and implementation mechanisms during weather changes, was discussed in light of the lessons learned from previous years.
Minister Al-Fara'a emphasized during the meeting that the Jordanian state has proven in the crises it has faced, including those related to weather conditions, that it is a cohesive state of institutions capable of sustaining life in the most difficult circumstances. He pointed out that adherence to readiness plans reflects the ability of the relevant agencies to deal early with risks and minimize their impact on citizens and their properties.
Al-Fara'a also directed the governors to activate the emergency plans emanating from the local civil defense committees, in addition to taking all necessary measures to face potential weather conditions.
For his part, the Director General of Public Security highlighted the important role played by the Public Security Directorate, as the first responder to all dangers resulting from the winter season, and confirmed the completion of implementing the Royal directives regarding the modernization and development of the civil defense directorate's capabilities to keep pace with developments, in addition to preparing joint implementation plans between all departments of the Public Security Directorate, especially civil defense and the gendarmerie, to deal with these circumstances.
The Council also listened to a briefing from the Director of Civil Defense on the Civil Defense Agency's preparations for the winter season, and what is related to monitoring field readiness and response mechanisms according to possible scenarios.
The meeting also addressed what was achieved at the infrastructure level, where the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Local Administration provided a briefing on the procedures that were implemented to avoid repeating the problems that appeared during last winter season in the infrastructure, in addition to what was implemented to ensure the regularity of services and quick response to any observations that may arise during the rainy season.
The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also provided a briefing on the preparations of electricity companies to deal with the winter season.
The meeting was held within the framework of the Supreme Council for Civil Defense's work to give sufficient time for the concerned departments and institutions to address any shortcomings that appear during the discussion of the weather plan.
