The Catholic Center Praises King Abdullah II's Speech at the United Nations: A Steady Jordanian Voice in Defense of Human Beings, Peace, and Christian Presence

The Catholic Center for Studies and Media praised the contents of His Majesty King Abdullah II's speech at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, and his firm and responsible Jordanian stance in defending human dignity, the sovereignty of international law, and the right of peoples to security, peace, and stability, at a time when the world and the region are witnessing successive crises that threaten human beings and their future.

The statement, signed by the Director General of the Center, Father Dr. Refaat Bader, particularly appreciated His Majesty's affirmation that Jordan continues to protect Christianity, with its communities and heritage, in its historical land, which is a message that expresses the deep-rooted Jordanian role in preserving the Christian presence in the Levant, maintaining its identity and heritage, and promoting a model of coexistence and brotherhood between Muslims and Christians. The Center also praised what His Majesty said about "defending the true image of Islam in the face of voices of hatred," which the Catholic Center described as the Hashemite balance between the two scales, with the first scale protecting Christians and the second defending the true image of Islam.

The Center also emphasized the importance of what His Majesty stressed regarding Jordan's continued bearing of the Hashemite custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and preserving their historical and legal status, which is a fundamental guarantee for protecting the identity and sanctity of the Holy City and its churches and Christian communities.

The Center expressed its appreciation for the clear stance of the speech towards the suffering of the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza and the West Bank, and the emphasis on the need to stop the cycle of violence and displacement, support the steadfastness of the Palestinians, and achieve a just peace that preserves rights and human dignity, instead of continuing the logic of war and imposing facts by force.

The Catholic Center believed that His Majesty's affirmation that military force cannot create real solutions or build peace carries a moral and humanitarian message that the world today needs to listen to, as true peace is based only on justice, respect for human dignity, trust between peoples, and adherence to international law.

The Catholic Center affirmed that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, continues to present a model based on moderation, stability, and openness, and on defending human beings, sanctity, and peace, to remain a present voice in the international community for a region where all its children enjoy security, justice, and dignity, away from wars, hatred, and extremism.
