He said: "What is happening is not a civil war or a struggle for power, but a comprehensive war aimed at destroying Sudan, looting its wealth, and changing it demographically."
Since April 2023, the Sudanese army and the "Rapid Support Forces" have been waging a war that erupted following disagreements over the unification of the military establishment, which has resulted in the death of tens of thousands and the displacement of about 13 million people, amid worsening famine and a humanitarian crisis in the country.
On the other hand, the Sudanese Defense Minister stressed that his country is "a pivotal state that cannot be bypassed in regional and African security issues."
He revealed "efforts to join the bloc concerned with the joint protection of the Red Sea."
Kabron added that Sudan "cannot be far from the efforts aimed at securing the Red Sea, which represents a strategic depth for it, given that it possesses a coastline extending for about 800 kilometers."
Saudi Arabia announced on July 30, 2026, the establishment of a maritime alliance to protect navigation, trade, and energy supplies in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
On August 13, the Saudi Ministry of Defense announced that 15 countries had signed the statement establishing the alliance, while 13 countries had completed their national procedures for joining.
Kabron explained that Sudan is surrounded by African countries facing multiple security challenges, including the proliferation of weapons, smuggling, human trafficking, and the presence of rebel movements, noting that these crimes are cross-border and affect Sudan.
He added that coordination was previously in place through joint forces with neighboring countries, but the ongoing war has led to the stalling of these forces on the ground.
