3 Palestinians and 2 foreign activists injured in settler attack south of the West Bank

Three Palestinians and two foreign activists were injured on Wednesday evening in an attack by settlers south of Hebron Governorate, in the southern West Bank.

Local sources told Anadolu Agency that settlers attacked citizens with sticks and stones in the Wadi Ajheish area, east of the town of As-Samu, south of Hebron Governorate, resulting in the injury of three local residents and two foreign activists (whose nationalities were not identified), who were staying in the area to document the assaults.

The attack comes amid escalating Israeli army assaults and settler terrorism against Palestinians in the West Bank since the start of the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza in October 2023.

The assaults include killing Palestinians, burning homes, vehicles, and mosques, and bulldozing agricultural lands, in addition to preventing farmers from accessing their lands and displacing Palestinian communities.

The number of Israeli settlers in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, is estimated at about 750,000, residing in 194 settlements and about 400 settlement outposts, according to official data.

Palestinians warn that these practices pave the way for Israel to officially annex the West Bank, undermining the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.

In 1948, Israel was established on Palestinian lands occupied by armed Zionist gangs that committed massacres and caused the displacement of at least 750,000 Palestinians, before Israel occupied the rest of the Palestinian territories in 1967 and refused to withdraw from them.
