The capital, Amman, witnessed the launch of "Jordan Mixed Martial Arts Week 2026" the day before yesterday, with the participation of Jordanian and international fighters, through a press conference attended by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Makram Al-Qaisi, alongside representatives of the organizing bodies and a number of guests and media personnel.

The "Jordan Mixed Martial Arts Week" activities will continue until October 31 under the slogan "Return to the Cage," and include open workouts, media events, and the official weigh-in for fighters, before concluding with the "DF UNCAGED" fight night at the Roman Amphitheater, featuring a selection of Jordanian and international fighters and global sports legends.

The Minister of Tourism emphasized that the ministry is working to diversify tourism markets and products, including the development of sports tourism and the introduction of mixed martial arts as a new product in cooperation with partners, noting that the participation of celebrities, athletes, and media figures from Latin America, Central Asia, the United States, and others enhances opportunities to promote Jordan globally.

He added that the ministry, in cooperation with the Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Youth, and sports federations, is in the process of preparing a calendar of sports events for 2027, which will contribute to diversifying activities and attracting more visitors to the Kingdom, praising the efforts of government agencies in making the event a success.

For his part, the founder of the "Desert Force" championship, Zaid Mirza, welcomed the guests and participating fighters, expressing his anticipation for a week full of excitement inside and outside the cage, culminating in the "DF UNCAGED" fight night next Friday at the Roman Amphitheater in the heart of the capital, with the participation of local and international champions and prominent sports and media figures.

As for the CEO of "Makana 360," Abdulrahman Al-Hussami, he emphasized that the media plays a pivotal role in highlighting the image of Jordan and its archaeological sites to the world, explaining that holding sports events in historical sites such as the Roman Amphitheater connects cultural heritage with modern sports and enhances the Kingdom's presence on the global sports tourism map.

In the same context, the General Manager of the "Desert Force" championship, Mohammed Mirza, pointed out that public turnout and ticket sales exceeded expectations, noting that the organization possesses extensive experience through organizing more than 50 previous international events, and that the possibility of organizing a new event next January will be discussed during the organization's annual meeting.

Professional American fighter Andrew Sanchez expressed his admiration for the level of safety and the warm welcome in Jordan during his first visit to the Middle East, confirming that the experience allowed him to learn about a part of the Kingdom's history and culture.

Jordanian fighters Yazan Balawi and Abdullah Jawish also stressed that participating represents a national responsibility and an opportunity to showcase the capabilities of the Jordanian fighter before an international audience, as Balawi considered the public attendance an additional incentive to provide the best performance, while Jawish emphasized the importance of good preparation to present an honorable image of Jordan.

World-renowned coach Javier Mendez, founder of the "American Kickboxing Academy," praised the organization and the professional treatment of fighters and guests, considering that Jordan has proven its ability to host major sports events.
