Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Emad Hijazi emphasized that hosting the (Jordan Mixed Martial Arts Week) represents a qualitative step in utilizing sports to strengthen the Kingdom's tourism status, reaching new markets and audiences, and transforming global interest in the championship into sustainable tourism and economic opportunities.
This came during the press conference to launch the (DF UNCAGED) championship at the Fairmont Amman Hotel, which began with a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs of terrorism.
Hijazi explained that holding the championship at the Roman Amphitheater, with its events extending to the Dead Sea and the Citadel, reflects a trend to integrate sports with Jordan's cultural and natural heritage, enhance the visitor experience, and extend their length of stay, which reflects on the various components of the tourism sector.
The championship comes as an initiative by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Jordan Tourism Board, as part of their efforts to diversify the tourism product and enhance Jordan's presence on the map of international sports events.
The conference witnessed the participation of a group of elite international fighters and coaches, most notably the world-renowned coach Javier Mendez, who praised the exceptional level of organization and Jordanian hospitality.
The events continue with open training sessions at the Dead Sea on October 28, the weigh-in ceremony at the Citadel on October 29, leading up to the main fights at the Roman Amphitheater on October 30, in an event that combines international sports with Jordanian tourism identity.
