Service Excavations Cause Disruption in Mafraq

Citizens in Mafraq City are renewing their complaints about the effects of excavation work carried out by the Water Authority to repair water and sewage lines, especially in the commercial center and other vital streets, amid calls to expedite the rehabilitation of sites where work has been completed, due to the difficulties it has caused for vehicle traffic and pedestrians and affected the urban landscape of the city.

Citizens point out that the excavations have become a burden on vehicle drivers, shoppers, and pedestrians, given the difficulty of moving in some locations, in addition to the dust, pits, and traces of work that affect the general appearance of the commercial center, which witnesses active movement throughout the day.

Dr. Mukhlid Al-Hawamdeh said that the excavation work caused severe damage to citizens, especially vehicle drivers and shoppers, calling on the concerned authorities to quickly address its effects and rehabilitate the streets and sites where the work was carried out.

He added that the problem is not limited to the damages incurred by citizens while using the roads, but also includes the urban appearance of Mafraq City, calling for the treatment of these sites in a way that ensures smooth traffic and preserves the urban face of Mafraq.

For his part, Dr. Muhammad Ali agreed with this, pointing out that the urban appearance of Mafraq City was negatively affected by the excavation work in the commercial center and a number of city streets, questioning the role of the municipality in addressing this issue and coordinating with the entities implementing the work to ensure the rehabilitation of sites after completion.

In response to citizens' complaints, the head of the Mafraq Greater Municipality Committee, Dr. Alia Akwarshida, confirmed that the municipality is following up on the subject in coordination with the Water Authority, and that the solution to the excavation problem will be within a week, after the communication and coordination between the two sides.

Akwarshida explained that Jerash Street will also witness the repaving of areas that have undergone excavations by the Water Authority, confirming that the municipality is working to address the effects of the work on the affected streets within the available capabilities and arrangements.

She stressed that the municipality is aware of the damage caused to citizens and pedestrians by the excavation work, and understands their demands for the need to expedite the rehabilitation of the streets, but at the same time, it is aware of the importance of the projects implemented by the Water Authority and their keenness to modernize and develop sewage networks to provide better services to citizens.

She emphasized that coordination between the municipality and the Water Authority is a key factor in reducing the effects of infrastructure projects on the daily lives of citizens, especially in commercial areas and vital streets, pointing out that the ultimate goal is to implement development projects that serve the city, in parallel with preserving the safety of citizens and the urban appearance of the streets.
