Schools in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, have shifted to a remote learning system starting Sunday for one week, following the attack that targeted King Khalid International Airport on Saturday, which was attributed to the Houthis in Yemen, according to a message sent to parents.
The message stated that the decision comes in line with the directives of the Ministry of Education, noting that this is the second time such a measure has been taken in the capital in less than a month.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia announced at midnight between Saturday and Sunday the death of 12 people and the injury of 309 others as a result of the attack.
The Authority explained in a statement that the deceased include 4 Saudis, two individuals of Bangladeshi nationality, and one person each from Jordanian, American, Egyptian, Syrian, Palestinian, and Sudanese nationalities.
It added that the injured are receiving the necessary healthcare in a number of hospitals, including some in critical condition, noting that the material damage resulting from the attack is still being assessed.
Saudi authorities suspended operational activities at King Khalid International Airport following the attack, which resulted in casualties.
