Anyone who contemplates and reflects on the speech of His Majesty King Abdullah II before the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York realizes a stark truth, that his speech was a resounding Hashemite cry, a trumpet that blared the truth, a warning to the world, and a unique, realistic, fair, and comprehensive speech that expresses the feelings and sentiments of the Arab and Islamic nation and the free people of the world. It was truly a unifying and protective expression, a true translation of everything that goes through the minds of the nation. His Majesty put the dots on the letters and removed the veil from the crimes of the Israeli occupation on Palestinian land, which had long been shrouded in secrecy. His Majesty's speech was a comprehensive statement and a glaring exposure of everyone with even the slightest vision or insight.
His Majesty's speech came at a time when voices had disappeared and faded in discussing the importance of Palestine, defending its people, and condemning the violations of the Israeli occupation. His Majesty's speech came as a shock to the world's conscience to awaken from its deep sleep and realize what remains of justice and the lifting of oppression.
His Majesty's speech was also focused on the greater fortune and the largest share of the rights of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, and discussing the crimes of the Israeli occupation, taking up most of his speech and the majority of the discussion. This indicates that Palestine is present in the mind and heart of His Majesty, as is the custom of the Hashemites throughout history. The Palestinian issue is the central and main issue in the interests of the Arab and Islamic world, but it is the first and foremost priority of His Majesty.
His Majesty's speech was one of the greatest jihads, as it was a word of truth in an unjust world that measures with two different measures, being unjust when it comes to the Israeli occupation. And what greater and more severe injustice could there be in the face of the world than the injustice and oppression that the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank have suffered from the cruel and tyrannical Israeli occupation, which has killed infants and elderly people, demolished houses, mosques, churches, schools, universities, and hospitals, and shelters, leaving no stone unturned and no head on a shoulder, even animals were not spared from their rampant evil. They have wreaked havoc and destruction on earth.
His Majesty also clearly pointed out the international community's failure and inaction towards the Palestinian issue and the horrific violations that the Palestinian people are subjected to, which will remain a stain and a curse that haunts the world in an age of civilization, progress, and scientific and technological advancement, devoid of the values of justice and fairness, through the oppressive and absolute injustice practiced by the Israeli occupation authorities under the rule of law, legitimizing systems to serve the Israeli occupation, and stealing rights from their rightful owners and seizing them by force of law and protecting settlers.
These crimes go beyond the borders of Palestine to show the greed and ambition of the Israeli occupation to include Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan, in pursuit of a systematic Israeli hegemony to be the master of the Middle East, and to draw a new Middle East through their religious perspective and turning the conflict into a conflict of religions rather than interests, borders, and time.
His Majesty also described in great detail what the Israeli occupation is doing, which amounts to war crimes in the International Court of Justice, especially in what is called the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land.
His Majesty spoke about the international community's ability to take legal, economic, judicial, and practical measures to stop the blatant crimes committed by the oppressive Israeli government, and then His Majesty pointed out that the matter is different when it comes to the Israeli occupation, which indicates the world's inaction towards fulfilling its responsibilities, which today sometimes stands as a spectator, and sometimes as a conspirator or a shirker.
His Majesty also emphasized the Hashemite custodianship of the holy sites in Jerusalem, the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking, peaceful coexistence, dialogue, and tolerance, and the eradication of many illusions and lame ideas.
His Majesty then spoke about Jordan, the threats it may face, whether on its land or water, and the interests of our people, and that our position will be decisive, and we will protect it with all our strength and might. This is a serious warning message, far from procrastination in speaking or defending the nation's assets, national, regional, and international entitlements.
His Majesty also explained Jordan's position with its brothers, strengthening bridges of communication, understanding, and joint work for a shared destiny, and pointed out that the Christian religion is part of the national fabric and the real component of Jordan, which is a true indication of the unique peaceful coexistence lived by the sons of the Jordanian people, which is an example, and His Majesty explained the vision that Jordan seeks to achieve, from being a model, openness, and steadfastness based on values, principles, religion, and customs, and dialogue and joint work for peace.
