Ramtha Municipality handled 24 complaints and observations during the prevailing weather conditions witnessed in the city of Ramtha, as a result of the heavy and exceptional rainfall. Municipality crews also dealt with 4 cases of water ingress into citizens' courtyards and homes, where they were addressed and treated on-site according to available resources.
According to a statement by the municipality today, Wednesday, the municipality activated its emergency plan by deploying six field teams that worked throughout the weather event, supported by the necessary machinery, including loaders, water suction pumps, water drainage vehicles, and personnel to deal with water accumulations and reports received from various areas of the city.
These measures came in light of the heavy rainfall witnessed in the region, which in some locations exceeded the capacity of pipe culverts to accommodate the flowing quantities of water, which necessitated intensifying field tours and monitoring valley streams and water accumulation sites.
Specialized teams conducted field tours to monitor the valleys, where it was found that the water flow was smooth, while three hotspots were identified that require technical interventions and treatments to limit the effects of rainfall and improve rainwater drainage in the future.
The field tours witnessed direct follow-up from the Ramtha District Administrator, Mahmoud Breizat, the Ramtha District Police Director, Colonel Saed Al-Badayneh, the Security Center Chief, Lieutenant Colonel Raed Al-Rawashdeh, and the Deputy Chairman of the Ramtha Municipality Committee, Dr. Muhanna Malkawi, in cooperation and coordination with Civil Defense personnel and the Ramtha Water Authority, within the framework of integrated efforts between the concerned authorities to deal with the weather conditions and preserve the safety of citizens and their property.
Ramtha Municipality confirmed the continued readiness of its crews and machinery to deal with any reports or emergencies during weather conditions, calling on citizens to exercise caution, stay away from valley streams and water accumulation areas, and report any observations that require intervention to the emergency number 0786088830.
The statement added that a joint operations room was activated, including the Ramtha District Administration, the Ramtha Police Directorate, the Ramtha Municipality, and the Civil Defense, to monitor developments in the weather conditions, respond immediately to any emergency, ensure rapid coordination between the concerned authorities, and direct field teams and necessary machinery to locations requiring intervention, contributing to the preservation of the safety of citizens and their property.
Ramtha Municipality called on citizens to avoid throwing waste randomly in streets, valleys, and around rainwater drainage manholes and culverts, due to its role in blocking culvert channels and drainage manholes and hindering water flow, which may lead to the formation of water accumulations and water ingress into homes and roads.
