Ramtha Municipality allocates funds for overtime and aims to provide 100 job opportunities monthly

Chairman of the Ramtha Municipality Committee, Engineer Jamal Abu Obaid, confirmed that the municipality has allocated a sum of money to reward workers for overtime, based on financial savings achieved from the current year's budget allocations, as the funds were reallocated to cover bonuses until the end of the year.

Abu Obaid pointed out that the Ministry of Local Administration has been addressed to obtain official approval, confirming that as soon as the approval is received, the municipality will begin direct disbursement to the eligible workers.

On another note, Engineer Jamal Abu Obaid met with Othman Bashtawi, a representative of the International Labour Organization (ILO), to discuss ways of cooperation in the field of employing, qualifying, and training job-seeking youth in a manner that suits the needs of the labor market, in addition to enhancing the representation of the youth sector and involving them effectively in programs and initiatives aimed at improving their economic and professional opportunities.

During the meeting, mechanisms for cooperation between Ramtha Municipality and the Jordan Investors Association were discussed, with support and funding from the International Labour Organization / Irbid Employment Office, with the aim of developing a practical employment program based on direct communication with facility owners and companies within Jordan to identify their actual needs for personnel and skills.

The program includes conducting field visits to facilities and employers to inventory their actual labor needs, identify the number of required jobs, and the specializations, experiences, and skills needed by each facility, and then working to nominate suitable youth and train and qualify them before joining the workforce.

Engineer Jamal Abu Obaid emphasized the importance of directing efforts toward real and sustainable job opportunities for youth, noting that the goal is to gradually reach the provision of job opportunities for about 100 young men and women monthly through direct networking between job seekers and facility owners, and by utilizing the employment platform and the Irbid Employment Office.

This meeting comes within the framework of Ramtha Municipality's trend toward strengthening partnerships with national and international institutions and the private sector, and expanding youth participation and representation in local development initiatives, in a way that contributes to responding to their needs and aspirations, raising their readiness for the labor market, reducing unemployment, and enhancing local economic development.
