Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, confirmed on Sunday that his country is working through diplomacy for regional stability, emphasizing the need to build trust, address sources of tension, and eliminate sources of disagreement.
He said that Qatar believes that diplomacy and economic stability are closely linked, affirming that his country will remain a committed mediator, a reliable energy supplier, and an investment partner.
He stressed that permanent security cannot be built through repeated cycles of escalation and retaliation, or through arrangements that make any country vulnerable to insecurity, calling for the establishment of a regional framework in which sovereignty is respected and no country poses a threat to another.
He pointed out that all talks during the crisis began with security issues, before moving on to energy and shipping supplies, noting that energy is a point of strength, and that technology is the future.
He said that the region witnessed what he described as an "earthquake," and that the aftershocks of what it witnessed extended beyond its borders, affirming that Qatar does not underestimate the state of uncertainty, but will not allow short-term disruptions to determine its course.
He pointed out that his country has worked with its regional and international partners to keep communication channels open and to reduce tension.
