Qadri Elected President of Knitwear Manufacturers' Union

The board of directors of the General Union of Knitwear Manufacturers has elected Engineer Ehab Qadri as the new president of the union until the end of the current term, which ends next year.

The union's board in its current term (23) includes Mahmoud Al-Hajawi, Abdul-Fattah Abu Al-Rub, Engineer Yazan Al-Zubeidi, Adel Badr, Hani Maharah, Jarais Al-Majrouh, Khader Adaeis, Yasin Abu Al-Rus, Khaled Jarawan, and Mahmoud Azz.

Qadri told the Jordanian News Agency (Petra) that the upcoming phase requires collective work focusing on enhancing the competitiveness of factories, expanding export and investment opportunities, developing skills, increasing job opportunities for Jordanians, and strengthening partnerships to serve the national industry and increase its presence locally and in export markets.

He added that the sector, which includes 11 sub-sectors, comprises large institutions exporting their products to global markets benefiting from free trade agreements, as well as small and medium-sized ones whose products go to local markets.

He pointed out the strategic position of the knitwear sector as one of the most vital industrial sectors supporting the national economy and its pivotal role in generating employment opportunities and increasing exports.

The union, founded in 1982, serves a large sector of knitwear factories, providing the needs for industry development in the Kingdom, keeping pace with and competing in the global industry, in addition to seeking to provide job opportunities for local labor and training them.
