Abu Haltam Elected President of East Amman Investors Industrial Association

During a session held yesterday evening, Saturday, following its election by acclamation, the new board of directors of the East Amman Investors Industrial Association chose Dr. Eyad Abu Haltam as the association's president for the years (2026-2030).

The board also selected Mohammed Al-Saudi as vice president, Engineer Yazan Ishnaneh as secretary, Engineer Anan Al-Tawil as treasurer, Fadi Al-Saghir as deputy secretary, Anas Al-Kilani as deputy treasurer, and Engineer Faiq Al-Sayegh, Dr. Rasha Al-Eid, and Engineer Hassan Al-Abooreh as board members.

The East Amman Industrial Zone, where the first factory was built in 1961, includes the areas of Marka, Ahed, Tariq, Abu Alanda, the Ring Road, Al-Nasr, and Basman. It hosts 1,800 establishments, mostly small and medium-sized industries, which provide about 30,000 jobs, the majority of which are held by Jordanian labor.

The region is witnessing significant industrial momentum that supplies the local market with high-specification, high-quality, and competitively priced products. Another portion of its industrial production goes to neighboring countries, while industrialists aspire to open new markets.

Abu Haltam told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the association's action plan for the coming years focuses on developing and expanding the scope of business services and comprehensive industrial development for companies operating in the region, enhancing their competitiveness in the local market, and facilitating the access of their products to regional and international markets.

He added that the plan comes as an integrated framework to build a prosperous and competitive national industry that strengthens the national economy and opens new horizons for the Jordanian product by providing qualitative and innovative services to the factories member of the association.

He pointed out that the association, which operates in full coordination with the Amman Chamber of Commerce, is keen to enhance partnership with various official bodies and international organizations to provide tangible financial and technical support that contributes to machinery modernization, human resource development, and defending the interests of industrialists.

He noted that the plan includes several operational axes aimed at achieving operational sustainability for industrial companies in the region, developing and updating member services, providing technical support to raise export readiness, qualifying human resources, and providing specialized consultations in occupational health, safety, and labor laws.

According to the association's president, the plan includes networking with donors and financing sources, and establishing a specialized advisory team within the association to prepare feasibility studies and technical proposals for factories, facilitating access to grants and financing facilities for modernizing machinery and equipment.

He pointed out that the plan also includes establishing an information center featuring a comprehensive database on Jordanian economic regulations, import and export requirements in global markets, problem-solving, and inter-trade.

Abu Haltam indicated that the association will work on organizing periodic meetings to enhance local procurement and supply chain integration among association members, while activating a mechanism for monitoring and addressing logistical and operational challenges with the relevant authorities.

He explained that the organization of exploratory trade missions and participation in local and international exhibitions will be expanded to open new export markets for the national product, noting that the region's exports are characterized by geographical and commodity diversity, giving them access to multiple global markets.

He pointed out that the East Amman industrial zones include industries that have contributed to localizing technology, enhancing added value, generating job opportunities, and building and upgrading manufacturing capabilities to range from intermediate and transformative to complementary.

They have also witnessed significant development during the reign of His Majesty King Abdullah II, which has reflected on enhancing the role of the vital industrial sector, contributing to stabilizing industry and its ability to achieve self-reliance and meet local and external market needs.

He emphasized that His Majesty the King has opened the doors of the world to Jordanian industrial products, which now reach nearly 150 markets worldwide, thanks to trade agreements signed with various global economic blocs, particularly with the United States, the European Union, and many other countries.

He said that the new board includes long-standing industrial expertise and will work as one team and bear the responsibility entrusted to them in the coming phase, striving to provide services and programs that help member industrial companies increase their competitiveness and develop their products.

It is worth noting that the association was established in 2010 with the aim of enhancing the competitiveness of industrial companies, representing them before official bodies, providing industrial linkages, promoting products, opening new export markets, and securing industrial companies with qualified and trained labor.
