Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that he hopes the Strait of Hormuz will remain open to navigation and that sanctions on Iran will eventually be lifted.
Putin added during a forum that Moscow's proposal to receive enriched uranium from Iran is still on the table if it is taken out of the country.
He suggested that international conflicts are likely to continue with the changing global landscape, noting that the situation will improve as what he called "Western dominance" declines.
Putin emphasized the need to avoid catastrophic scenarios.
He said, "Regardless of the scenario that will unfold globally in the coming years, the continuation of international conflicts is, unfortunately, very likely. This is partly due to the fact that the radical transformations underway, and the opportunities they provide, fuel ambitions and the willingness to take risks for seemingly enormous gains."
