During her previous term (2023–2026), Her Highness worked to strengthen the role of national committees in the Arab region, expand the participation of Arab experts and specialists in international scientific committees, and support the exchange of knowledge and expertise, contributing to the development of mechanisms for protecting and managing cultural heritage.
This responsibility gains special importance in light of the increasing challenges facing cultural heritage in the Arab region, including conflicts and climate change, and the need to enhance the resilience of local communities and protect cultural heritage for future generations.
Her Highness emphasized the importance of continuing to work on strengthening the presence of the Arab region within the International Council, expanding opportunities for the participation of youth and specialists, and developing cooperation between national committees, in a way that enhances the region's contribution to shaping international trends related to the protection and preservation of cultural heritage.
The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) is an international non-governmental organization concerned with the protection and preservation of cultural heritage, and it plays an advisory role to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in the field of world heritage.
Her Highness's re-election embodies Jordan's continued presence in international forums concerned with cultural heritage and strengthens its role in supporting international efforts aimed at protecting and preserving human heritage.
