The Paris Police Prefecture announced that the curfew imposed in some areas of the French capital restored calm last night, confirming its continued application today and for as long as necessary.
The Prefecture stated, in a post on the "X" platform, that the measure was taken by order of the Police Chief, stressing that measures aimed at protecting people and property will not be subject to any conditions.
The curfew was imposed following riots and looting witnessed in French cities during protests over the rising cost of living and fuel prices, which affected shops and public buildings.
Authorities imposed night restrictions in parts of Paris and other cities, while the government called for strengthening security measures and pursuing those involved in acts of violence.
