University President Dr. Salamah Al-Nuaimat affirmed that universities bear a national and educational responsibility in guiding youth, strengthening their human and moral values, and consolidating a culture of moderation, tolerance, and respect for others, which contributes to immunizing society against deviant ideas that lead to violence and criminality.
Al-Nuaimat said that the nation has lost, as a result of deviant ideology, a group of its sons who had contributions to serving the nation and society, pointing out that this painful loss calls for intensifying awareness, intellectual, and educational efforts, raising awareness about the dangers of extremism, and protecting youth from destructive ideas.
He stressed that the attack on innocent people and places of worship contradicts human values and the tolerant teachings of the Islamic religion, affirming that Islam is innocent of takfiri ideology and criminal practices that violate blood and human dignity, and indicating that confronting these ideas is a shared responsibility that requires spreading awareness and consolidating the principles of mercy, tolerance, and humanity.
Al-Nuaimat pointed out that the Hamoud church incident represents a national tragedy that affects all Jordanians, affirming that the unity of Jordanian society and the cohesion of its people constitute a fundamental pillar for maintaining the nation's security and stability, and that such crimes will not undermine the bonds of love and belonging that unite Jordanians.
He affirmed that Mutah University continues to perform its mission in preparing conscious generations committed to the values of citizenship and national responsibility, noting that the university's role is not limited to academic education, but extends to building the human being, enhancing their awareness, and developing their ability to distinguish between moderate thought and extremist ideas, in a way that contributes to serving society and safeguarding Jordan's security and stability.
